چکیده

The response of a compliant surface in turbulent boundary layer forced by dynamic roughness is studied using experiments and resolvent analysis. Water tunnel are carried out at friction Reynolds number Re??410, with flow measurements taken 2D particle image velocimetry (PIV) stereo digital correlation (DIC). narrow band forcing enables analysis the responses coherent frequency, corresponding Fourier modes extracted compared modes. capture structures experimental eddy viscosity improves matching. comparison smooth wall predicts virtual feature normal velocity case. revealed data conditional average informed prediction. Finally, change to due influence compliance modeling condition as deterministic framework.

Dynamic roughness perturbation of a turbulent boundary layer

The zero-pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layer over a flat plate was perturbed by a temporally oscillating, spatial impulse of roughness, and the downstream response of the flow field was interrogated by hot-wire anemometry and particleimage velocimetry. The key features common to impulsively perturbed boundary layers, as identified in Jacobi & McKeon (J. Fluid Mech., 2011), were investiga...

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...

Effects of compliant coatings on radiated sound from a rigid-wall turbulent boundary layer

A theoretical model is developed to investigate the effect of compliant coatings on radiated sound from low Mach-number turbulent boundary layers over otherwise rigid surfaces. Lighthill’s analogy is employed and the primary noise source is assumed to be from wall-pressure fluctuations. Parametric studies are performed on the behavior of the material properties such as the speed of sound and de...

Influence of Local Ultrasonic Forcing on a Turbulent Boundary Layer

An experimental study was carried out to investigate the effect of local ultrasonic forcing on a turbulent boundary layer. The ultrasonic forcing system was constructed by adhering six ultrasonic transducers to a flat plate over which water was flowed. In this system, the ultrasonic waves projected into the water by the transducers caused cavitation, giving rise to an enormous number of tiny ai...

Unsteady boundary layer flow of a Casson fluid past a wedge with wall slip velocity

In this paper an analysis is presented to understand the effect of non–Newtonian rheology, velocity slip at the boundary, thermal radiation, heat absorption/generation and first order chemical reaction on unsteady MHD mixed convective heat and mass transfer of Casson fluid past a wedge in the presence of a transverse magnetic field with variable electrical conductivity. The partial differential...
